Introducing our New Praxis Core

In this blog post, we will dive into the third edition of the Praxis Core book. Whether you're just starting your journey or need a refresh, this guide is packed with new features, making it the ultimate tool for success.

Although the previous edition was highly effective, we wanted to give it a fresh update. The older version worked great, and many people passed their exams using it. If you have the older edition, you’re still good to go—nothing major has changed about the Praxis Core exam itself.

What’s New in the Third Edition?

The pink Praxis Core book is thicker for a reason—we’ve beefed up the writing section. Here's what you can expect from the new edition:

  • Two full reading practice tests
  • Three full writing practice tests, along with many new writing prompts to help you master the essay portion
  • Three full math practice tests, covering everything you need to know

Understanding the Praxis Core Exam

The Praxis Core exam is similar to tests like the ACT or SAT. It assesses four key areas:

  1. Reading comprehension
  2. Grammar
  3. Essay writing
  4. Math skills

Passing the Praxis Core

In most states, this is a basic skills test required for teachers, although other states may call it something different. While it’s labeled a “basic skills test,” don't be fooled—many areas, like the writing and math sections, can be challenging.

To help you succeed, we've designed this study guide to cover all the essential skills. For those who want additional help, our Praxis Core Online Course and free YouTube webinars provide further support.

Pro Tips for Praxis Core Success

  1. Download the Study Companion
Go to Google, type "Praxis Core test specifications," and download the PDF published by the ETS. This document outlines all the skills you’ll be tested on and is essential for your preparation.

  2. Don't Memorize—Understand Concepts
Memorizing test questions won’t cut it. You need to understand the underlying skills and concepts because the exam can present them in various ways.

  3. Use Practice Tests Wisely
Take the first practice test in our book as a pretest to identify your weak areas. Once you’ve studied, take the second test to see if you’ve improved. A score of 75% or higher typically means you're ready for the actual exam.

  4. Pace Yourself
Studying takes time, and everyone progresses at their own pace. Aim for 20-30 minutes a day of consistent practice rather than cramming. Remember, peaks and valleys are part of the learning process, so be kind to yourself.

Stay Focused, You’ve Got This!

Whether you're juggling teaching, parenting, or other responsibilities, remember that success on the Praxis Core is within your reach. Study smart, not hard, and use the resources at your disposal to target your weaker areas.

Finally, if you’re ready to get started, don’t forget about the updated pink Praxis Core book. It's packed with practice questions, detailed answer explanations, and proven strategies to help you think like a test maker, not just a test taker.
