The Praxis PLT 5622 (Principles of Learning and Teaching: Grades K–6) is a pedagogy exam designed for prospective elementary school teachers. It measures your knowledge of instructional theory and your ability to apply teaching practices in real classroom situations.

The exam is 2 hours long and consists of:

• 70 selected-response (multiple-choice) questions
• 4 constructed-response (written) questions based on two case studies
• Delivered computer-based

The test is designed to assess both foundational knowledge and the ability to apply instructional decision-making skills in realistic classroom scenarios.

The test covers five major content areas:

• Students as Learners (22.5%) – 21 questions

Child development, learning theories, student motivation, and individual differences.

• Instructional Process (22.5%) – 21 questions

Planning instruction, instructional strategies, differentiation, and classroom management.

• Assessment (15%) – 14 questions

Formative and summative assessment, data interpretation, and feedback.

• Professional Development, Leadership, and Community (15%) – 14 questions

Ethical practice, collaboration, communication with families, and professional growth.

• Analysis of Instructional Scenarios (25%) – 4 constructed responses

Written responses analyzing case studies involving learners, instruction, assessment, and professional practice.
